I believe Freedom Summer showed how America was coming together. Volunteers joined African Americans to help them to register. Many whites in the south were still agaisnt black voting. However, Freedom Summer caused a change and brought attention to the stuggles of black voters.
This book is about how people just wanted equality for all. No matter what race or sexual orientation. You can’t help what race you are born into it just happens. Many people from different backgrounds of life came together to show America that everyone is happy about how they are being treated. So far I am enjoying the book because it deals with some topics that I am interested in such as the civil rights movement and things of that sort. I actually saw a movie called Mississippi burning that was about the death of the three men James Chaney, Andrew Goodman, and Michael Schwerner.
