The Other America shows the side of our country we don't like to acknowledge.
It is the 50 million people that are in poverty. The government chooses to just ignore them. They have become invisible and people are not trying to help them.

Freedom Summer 2

Freedom Summer

I believe Freedom Summer showed how America was coming together. Volunteers joined African Americans to help them to register. Many whites in the south were still agaisnt black voting. However, Freedom Summer caused a change and brought attention to the stuggles of black voters.

What would Baldwin see in today's society?

I think he would see how people are more accepting today than in the past. America is not as judgemental and negative about people's differences. He would find it easier to feel a part of the country.
